In the past the Red-headed Woodpecker Recovery has requested that when you see a red-headed woodpecker to report it to us. We would like you to continue to do that, but we would ask you to do one more thing and that is to report it on e-Bird. The beauty of e-Bird is that you can go to the website and see where red-headed woodpeckers are being reported. To see this go to the e-Bird website and click on "Explore Data", then fill in the species you'd like to see reports of or click here to go directly to the red-headed woodpecker observations.
If you have observed 3 or more pair of red-headed woodpeckers (RHWO's) within a quarter of a mile of one and another, you have a "cluster" of RHWO's. We would like to know about them. Please fill out a cluster form and send it to us. This information will give us data on where the RHWO's are. If you live in the area, we request that you monitor the nests. Keep a log of your observations.
